Waters in Pierce County took a bit of rain this week. Their flows are at/or above plump and cool. On Wednesday the Rush had a bit of stain from an isolated storm that quickly dumped a bunch of rain into the watershed. The Kinni pushed a bit of water through on Monday. Isolated rain is […]

Hey Andy, My buddy and I were thinking of heading to the Rush this next weekend as it will be in the 50° range but we don’t know the conditions it will be in. Do you think there is a lot of runoff/will be a lot of runoff then? Hey Bill There is still a […]

Could not stand it. It was too nice out.  I packed up my gear and headed to the Rush River. Arrived around 10AM and put in a long hike. Today I wanted to find deep to medium deep slow water. I also wanted to see what my old favorite runs and pools looked like […]

Although the Kinni is still running high and a bit yucky, the rivers to the East are good to go. Fished the Rush last night and was surprised at the clarity. There has been change and you will see your favorite spots a bit differently as you angle next time there. Where I was, the […]

Once again I have gone MIA for a month during prime time of the most remarkable trout season in recent history for this little niche of the woods. For the few left who still stop at this page for fly fishing drivel, updates and photos,  I have taken your suggestions and installed a restroom laptop […]

by Andy Roth in Trout Stream Reports, Wisconsin (Western)

Temps on Sunday night had not dropped below freezing, and as the water ran off my roof top I hit the road. By 10 AM under sunny skies on Monday,  I was on the river attempting to get ahead of the snow melt that will eventually cause the rivers to swell into un-fishability.
