A friend of mine informed me of this story today on NPR. Tom Whiting, the famous hackle herder was interviewed for the story. You can listen to the story by clicking the button on the link page.
On a side note, most of Pierce County was missed by the rain yesterday. The streams are fine. The southeast of Minnesota received some heavy rains though. Check the Minnesota DNR links on the blogroll for the latest conditions. Rain was variable.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackIts just a fad. No reason to get your feathers ruffled. Sorry. This fad will come and go like bell-bottoms and many other fashion trends. I am glad Whiting is capitalizing and making some money but I am also glad he knows that fly fisherman are his long term customers.

I think you are right. How long will the fad last? Who knows. We killed off a lot of birds in the 1920’s to put feathers in women’s hats.
