Rivers in the Southeast are good to go. Caddis action has been good on many of the streams in the region. Try a downstream approach with a tan Elk hair Caddis. Skitter the fly back upstream through the riffles and be ready for explosive strikes. Add a small Caddis pupa as a trailer for the […]

The rain has not affected the water clarity yet. All should be fine for the weekend. No reports on any hatch changes. Have fun for this weekend.

A customer brought up a good point about anglers fishing habbits. Many are creatures of habit and find it difficult to explore because their sucess rate may be diminished. Anglers fish certian spots because they have sucess. They are confident of the location of the “homes” of the fish and their feeding habits. I believe […]

I have seen 6 PMD’s in the last 4 days on the rivers. All the signs are there, and the fish are sporatically active in the afternoon, but the beginning of this hatch is yet to come. The water is clear. A variety of patterns, both sub-surface and top water have worked. Soft Hackel Hares […]

I checked the USGS site again (http://waterdata.usgs.gov/wi/nwis/uv?05342000) and according to it the Kinni is running at 91cfs – an ideal level. I spoke with several people this morning who went fishing yesterday and fishing was great on both the Rush and Kinni. The BWO’s continue to hatch on both rivers, although caddis apparently took more […]

Both Andy and I were out guiding yesterday and the fishing was excellent. I (John)guided on the Kinni and Andy on the Rush. Fishing was slow in the early AM, but by about 2pm, with the onset of rain, the BWO’s (#18,20), Tan Caddis (#14), and Cream Midges (#24-26) came off in great numbers and […]

The waters of the Southeast will be good to fish this weekend. The rain and cool temps were much needed but have not ruined the fishing. Some waters may be slighty stained but it will be a nice change from the clear spooky conditions. The cool weather will have slowed hatch activity, so don’t expect […]

The rain has not affected the rivers. The hatches will be slow to return because of the cool temps.
