Opening weekend proved to be cold and windy but the fish did cooperate! All the water in Pierce County is in fine shape for now. The fish were hungry and pattern selection was not all that critical. Scudds in size 6-16, orange, olive, and gray were a good bet. Small black nymphs size 16-20 as well as Prince nymphs in all sizes also caught fish. Black Wolly Buggers in 6 and 8 also worked in the slow deep water situations. Find the fish and stick with them, they tend to be podded up at this time of year. Snow fell all day on Monday and the snow cover is back to 8 inches in many spots. The sun will melt it fast, so get out sooner than later.
