Fish are gut packed and becoming selective! The bugs have been hatching on a regular basis and the fish have had plenty to eat. Anglers have to be proficient in choosing patterns and identifying insects to have the same success experienced earlier this spring. There are plenty of fish surfacing, but catching even a fraction of the fish up will require you to solve the GREAT MYSTERY. Straight upstream or strait downstream have been the best tactical approaches, with quarting upstream casting being the least successful approach unless you are waiting for the downstream swing. The fish have been chasing emerger or pupa patterns on the swing, so wait for a moment at the end of your downstream drift occasionally they will hit your bug. The best patterns yesterday were the Heneryville Caddis #18, Caddis pupas in #16-20, and Crane fly drys in #14-16.
