Hay creek is probably OK. The rest of the Southeast has taken a hit. Let me know if there is anything out there fishing.

The Southeast was hit hard the last few days by rain. Stream conditions will vary with the Whitewater getting hit the hardest. The Root is off color but fishable. Trout run is fishing great and clear. The smaller tribs will clear fast and fishing will only get better. Ants, Hoppers, beetles, and buggers.
It seems that the rain that fell over the 3rd and 4th was variable across the region. The whitewater took the brunt of the rain with the branches all reported to be either cloudy or muddy. They should be clearer today. The Root river Watershed did not get the same rain and the DNR at […]
Rain has fallen throughout the night in the Rochester area and the Whitewater has taken on some color in regards to water clarity. The South Branch was the hardest hit and a 7AM this morning was muddy. The Middle and North branches were partly cloudy with clarity being about a foot. The rain has stoped […]
The conditions in the Southeast are similar to Wisconsins. No rain to speak of in May and only a little in April. The bigger waters like the Root have a little more depth and may be a little easier to nymph. Trout Run has had sporatic Caddis and Midge fishing but long casts are the […]
The Southeast is in great shape! Waters are clear and cold with bugs in the air. A few mayflies have been spotted including the Dark Hendrickson’s(12-14) and anglers reports have been favorable. Black Caddis (16-18)are also out in the afternoons which makes for some fun dry fly fishing. Pressure on the streams has been low […]
Looks like we are in great shape for the opener on Saturday. Streams have cleared and the snow that remains should not have an effect on water clarity.Don’t be suprised to see fish up on top this weekend. Anglers should be armed with a good supply of nymphs, streamers, and dry’s. The fish will be […]
The streams are going to be in tough fishing shape today. The heavy rain looks like it is over for a few hours but more is expected. Go to the Greatwaters fly fishing show in bloomington today.
The Southeast has experienced more run-off as the temps have caused the North face slopes to run off their snow. The streams and creeks that are shortest in length will be your best bet for the weekend. Conditions WILL be variable. Rain could bring more high water.
The catch, and releasing of course, has improved greatly from the opening day blues that struck us all. Anglers throughout the system have been successful and it should continue. The pink squirell in #16 made its appearance with good results, hares ears and pheasant tails in 16 and 18 and # 20 Zebra midges all […]
