REPORT
-Thank goodness there are a few tricos out in the morning. The numbers are still low but at least the fish are finally starting to pay a little attention to the white winged curse. Nuff Said!
-Afternoon is for nymphing, splat patterning(hoppers or foam bugs) or stalking the grassy shady banks with a big dry. Practice your long casting and presentation. The flat water is spooky as hell. Streams are back to clear and rain has all but left the area for the last two weeks or better. Forecast says expect more of the same. Hopper numbers stream-side is growing.
-Evenings at this time of year can be awesome(they can also be tough). Yellow Crane flies were out last night along with caddis, both light and dark bodied. Temps are cool and wet wading makes the water seem warm and comfy. Traffic on all the rivers has been reasonably low.

Just wondering if you or your herd have seen any tricos on the Kinni. So far this year I’ve only seen them on the Rush.
Thanks for the heads up on the sale Andy. I had a job in Hopkins this morning which put me in close enough proximity to Eden Prairie to go and check it out. I found 34 flies that I needed as well as 2 fly boxes, some sunglasses and some wading socks. It was a good day.

I have seen Tricos on the Kinni. Yesterday they were there on the lower river. The clouds of insects were not very thick and the fish up on them were sparse. Sun was bright early and the hatch was short lived.
There were many Tricos on the Rush last Saturday morning. They really started picking up around 8:27am. There were some rises here and there but it wasn’t like the fish were going crazy. An hour later there were hundreds floating on the surface. I figured any trout that wanted to eat was able to find plenty of dead ones underwater.
