Heavy ice formed on the guides within 10 min. of fishing. The air temp hung around 24 degrees and the water was a chilly 39. Almost an hour had gone by without even a nibble. In that time period there were the normal 3 break-off’s and 3 pattern changes. Then the heavy fish struck. I saw the flash in the bottom of the hole and the fight was solid. I remember thinking… This will make the whole morning session worth it to land this fish. Moments later there he was, a strong 3 pound pucker mouth sucker, the first of the year! Needless to say the lower Kinni gave up two trout this morning and all is well. The rivers will be in great shape this week so get out and fish! Don’t forget to get your new Wisconsin License as it is only good until the 31st of March.
