A few anglers have been heading down to Iowa to fish the Northeastern corner of the state. A photo of this bad boy(girl) came across my email just before the snow fell. 6 lbs 24″. Congrats!

I was honored to be asked recently to perform a marriage ceremony for a friend of mine. After some help from my friend uncovering the qualifications needed in order to perform a legally binding marriage ceremony in the state of Minnesota, The Goat became an Ordained Minister. Wish me luck on my first one. Here are my credentials. Who could have imagined?

There was a great response to the newsletter’s request for the top ten anglers who wanted to float in the boat with a Goat. ThisĀ contains some more of the details on this coming year’s warm water floats.

Lets face it, trout become sluggish during the summer months in this neck of the woods. These cold water fish can be caught, but for the most part high water temps slow their feeding activity. Warm water fishes begin to get active when the water temps get to 60, 70, 75 degrees. In order to take advantage of these conditions, I plan to float some of the larger warm water rivers in close proximity to my locality. There are fish in these waters that have not seen many of our nifty hand tied flies. I consider this an opportunity and a chance for adventure. Trout will probably always be my first love, but you know what they say about variety and a better business model.

As I stated in the newsletter there are many hurdles to get over in route to accomplishing my plan. Frankly, Float lengths, launches, shuttles, permits, danger factors, dead water, wild animals and a whole host of other variables need to be worked out. Oh yes, variables like, Where exactly are these fish are located? are questions I will be answering myself this spring on my solo voyages. Know that, I will have a small amount of confidence in what I am doing before any of you get in the boat.

There are 3 seats in the boat. My normal rates will be $425.00 for one or two anglers.

I plan to have the floats available in the summer months. Late June, July, August, early September. Start looking at your calendar and shoot me an email. As always I would like to do these floats during the week. Angler traffic will be much lower.

Please Remember this is “the plan” at this time. Sometimes plans don’t turn out like you plan.
Thanks for your supportĀ and keep it coming.
