Caught this guy looking at me the other morning. My hair probably looked like that of a giant rodent. I snapped this photo before he knew I was looking at him. Thought it would be wise to send out my newsletter.

First and foremost, a gracious Thank You to all of you who read my blog, purchased my products, chatted with me stream-side, attended my programs or shows, or contacted me for information. It has been my pleasure. This year has been another success for Gray Goat Fly Fishing, and I have made one more trip around the sun to prove it. I owe it to you. Thanks again for becoming part of our little herd and allowing us to live this lavish lifestyle in our little cabin down by the river.

2013 Tying and Casting Classes

The dates and times are set for this year’s tying and casting classes in Eden Prairie. Join the herd this winter and improve your casting stroke or learn to tie flies. This winter’s intermediate tying class will have a steelhead theme. Come learn some of my favorite steelhead patterns. Check out the details.

 Hook and Material Orders

Once a year Gray Goat gives you the chance to be in on my big hook and materials order. This is your chance. Those of you who have been involved know the prices are well worth it. You still have until the 22nd of December to order anything from Wapsi, Hareline Dubbin or Umqua Feather Merchants. Email me your order.

Goat in a Boat

Due to the kindness of friends, Gray Goat Fly Fishing is able to present you with a great new fly fishing opportunity this coming year. This fall I acquired a bright and shiny Clackacraft drift boat and will be ready to float for the 2013 summer season. The plan is to give you (and I) the opportunity to explore the waters of the lower St.Croix and Mississippi.

There is no doubt that the upper sections of these two rivers have produced some incredible warm water opportunities for the fly angler. It is now time to give anglers throwing the fly a chance to chase, not only the hard fighting Smallmouth that inhabit these waters, but also some of the other ferocious finned fare, like Gigantic and wary Carp and numerous Garfish, located south of the cities on these waterways.

To my knowledge few flies have been thrown at the fish in this neck of the woods, and Gray Goat would like you to have the first crack. My preparation has already begun. Without question this is a lofty undertaking and will require time on the water in order to work out all the bugs. For this reason, the first ten explorers will receive an incredible discount off normal guide fees to Float in the Boat with The Goat. Email me at to reserve your spot on the top ten for a summer float to be remembered.

Seasons Greetings To You And Yours,

 Join The Herd!
