Just as I suspected. Just got a report from Martell The Rush river is high and off color this morning. Warm temps all last night relased enough water from the ground to throw it off. High and colored. The Kinni is fine this morning.

Warm temps over here as well – the snow has disappeared, as has all the ice on the lakes. As a result of the warm temps, my local freestone trout stream is now a raging river of chocolate milk…what a difference two days make – I was out Sunday afternoon into evening and the brookies were sipping caddis flies as they emerged into the 60 degree air – it was awesome. Today, it was a no go, but I sure did enjoy getting out. Would you believe I even saw a little hopper?!?
Cheers!
Come on Cole, a Hopper, Crazy! Everything is fishing today some clear some stained-all sun.
Fished the upper kinni, lower kinni, and south fork of the kinni. Caught 20-30 browns and brookies. Red copper johns, pheasant tails, prince nymphs, zebra midges, scuds, caddis pupa, and small flashback baetis nymphs. All of the places I fished the water was in perfect condition clear and at a normal-slightly above average level. There were hatches of midges, black stoneflies, and tiny bwo’s. Sporadic rises but nothing too consistent. It was a perfect day to be out there. You should go and fish.
Andy,
Fished the Kinnj for a few hours today and caught a few nice browns on a scud followed by a smaller Kinni nymph. As happens most of the time when fishing this type of set-up, they came to the dropper. Do you find this to usually be the case and, if so, why?
BTW, a few bwo hatching and a few small fish rising.

At this time of the year there are no rules. I think fish are hungry, water temps are on the rise and all food is scrutinized far less than later in the season

Sounds like a great day to be out!
