The roller coaster of weather continues. The rivers are back to crystal clear. The wind the last two days has made casting a dry difficult to say the least. The fish have not been to the surface enough to cause a stir, but relentless casting with good accuracy will bring them up. The change of wind direction and the fronts pushing in and out has made a difference in the trout’s feeding habits. Fish have been caught on Lt. Hendrickson and PMD patterns both adult and low riding models in size 14-18. Keep trying. BWO CDC comparaduns have also worked. These are summer conditions and long casts are essential. Nymphing slow water has been less productive this week with more fish coming in the fast broken water. Targeting this water will give anglers the best chance at catching fish and spooking less.
