The last 4 days have been spent scrambling to put the finishing touches on the layout of the Gray Goat booth and presentation for this weekend’s Greatwaters Fly Fishing Expo. There has been no fishing for this guy, but the reports have been steadily coming in all week.

We are in day 14 without rain, just like the beginning of last year, when severe drought conditions existed across the region. Believe it or not, mild drought conditions still exists and rain will be welcomed. The rivers are in great shape. Clear as glass, spooky and cold. Spin fishers have had some good luck using their method of fishing and that has to translate to some good early streamer fishing if you put in the time and cover  a bunch of water. Otherwise, midges and stones have continued to take fish. A Big(#10) Bloody Prince followed by a Zebra Midge larva in size #20 have proved a good combo underneath a Bentleys Balls strike indicator.

I am offering a number of “Show Specials” this weekend at the Greatwaters expo. Stop out and see the show and stop by the booth. This fly fishing/conservation exposition is one of the most meaningful events of the year for those of you who fly fish. The newest, latest, coolest and most important products and information from the fly fishing world will be on show……..Be there or be a chub.
