Gray Goat Fly Fishing has added 1 new custom fly, 4 new Trico patterns and 7 new colors of Angora goat hair to its growing list of quality items for you to purchase on line. Take a look!
Cheddar Head Crane Fly
Check out these legs! Many anglers believe that the long legs of the crane fly are the characteristic that trigger the fish to strike when it is on the water. This crane flies has a creamy yellow body and is tied parachute style. Don’t let the hook size fool you into
thinking this is a small fly. It was designed to imitate one of the numerous hatches of crane fly in the region. Crane fly patterns are hard to find in the commercial market. Use the standard yellow cheddar head or choose the highly visible fluorescent fire orange version.
Yellow Cheddar Head Size 18
Fluorescent Fire Orange Cheddar Size 18
Sparkle Dun Tricos
Size: 20 & 22
This classic Trico Comparadun, tied with bleached costal deer hair, is a favorite lead fly dun imitation in a two fly trico rig. The bleached deer hair wing floats well and keeps the fly’s body in the correct position on the water It also allows anglers spot the fly easily.
Trico Spinner
Size: 24
This poly-wing female trico spinner is perfect for days where trout are keying on small female trico spinners. This simple but effective pattern is always in my trico box.
Biot Body Spinner
Size: 24
This male spinner has UV fibers added to the wing to add a bit of glimmer to the wing. Sometimes, I believe this added twist helps trout pick this spinner over the 500 other bugs per square foot that the fly is floating through. Also works well slightly sunk just below the water’s surface. The biot body is wrapped reverse style to accentuate the segmentation in the body of this mayfly.
CDC Biot Trico Spinner
Size: 22
The biot body on this pattern is wrapped smooth, giving this pattern a nice sheen and the subtle look of segmentation. The pure CDC wing shows great profile on the water as well as floats the fly well. I love CDC.
ANGORA GOAT HAIR(MOHAIR) BLEND GOAT BOY DUBBING
Natural white: This is the washed and carded fleece from Cloud and Lightning, two natural white colored angora goats. This is the natural color of mohair before dyeing, and is the fleece you would use if you wished to dye your own colors.
Natural gray: This is a natural light gray straight from Misty, the only female gray goat in the herd.
Silver Shadow: This color is great for large soft hackles, Steelhead flies and Stone flies. The color is similar to Adams gray.
Blue Dun: Another great Stonefly dubbing with just a hint of blue.It is THE dubbing for lifelike mohair leaches and buggers.
Pale Black: Soft hackles, Stones, Steelhead flies, the main color I use.
Sassafras: This is a great orange scud dubbing and a nice orange for Steelhead.
Old Yeller: This color is a dirty yellow but bright. I use it for golden stones and as a nice addition to Steelhead flies Old Yeller.
Raw fleece also available on request.
