Yesterday’s fishing was better than expected. The morning rains that went through only touched the area with a 10th of an inch. The overcast morning provided some nice action on caddis pupa imitations. A brighter green pupa imitation (like the one pictured above) seemed to work the best. Both dead drift and swing worked well with fish locating at the head of fast water drops and chasing on tail out swings. Make sure you have enough weight to get down quickly since the size of the broken water pockets is small. The low light conditions of overcast skies are the best light conditions we can ask for in such clear water. Fish will scatter from lies that are located near trail side walking paths even with overcast skies. Believe me, the fish know you are there. Keep a low profile, move slowly and target fast or deep water. Plan your approach to holding lies well before you get there. Scattered rain is forecast for the next few days. Look at the radar and plan your outings appropriately.

Be careful of sending a curse to the ones who are your friends. I have many friends below the waters surface. They know your scent from the flies you tie onto your line, and like a good blood hound, they can choose to bite or not to bite depending on who has given them love or caused them pain.
