The water was clear and noticeably lower on Monday. The baetis were in full swing on the upper Rush river and the fish cooperated nicely on #18-20 parachutes. Small(#24) dark gray midges also caught the attention of the selective fish. Nymphing deep with Prince nymphs and Pheasant tails also continued to take nice fish. These conditions should persist throughout the week. No sign of the black caddis in our neck of the woods, but in the LaCrosse and S.E. of Minnesota these hatches have commenced. Be ready with those Caddis patterns in your boxes! THE WISCONSIN SEASON WILL BE CLOSED AT MIDNIGHT APRIL 28TH AND WILL RE-OPEN AT 5:00 AM ON SATURDAY MAY 4TH. Don’t get caught fishing during this time period the fines will be substantial and the DNR will be out in force.
