Temps on Sunday night had not dropped below freezing, and as the water ran off my roof top I hit the road. By 10 AM under sunny skies on Monday,  I was on the river attempting to get ahead of the snow melt that will eventually cause the rivers to swell into un-fishability.

by Andy Roth in Ask Andy, Trout Stream Reports, Wisconsin (Western)

Just got an email from a fellow angler heading this direction for the Wisconsin Early Season Trout Opener. Brad enquired: Hello Andy, I’m coming up from Iowa to fish Saturday’s opener. Pretty Much Done!

Water in Good Shape

Posted on March 16th, 2010 - 9:03 pm | Tags: Stream conditions Wisconsin
by Andy Roth in Trout Stream Reports, Wisconsin (Western)

Went out to take some photos today around 5PM. The waters in Pierce County look great with a bit of color in them and water temps warming. I ran into stone-flies about an inch and a half long. Fish were actively feeding on them in the fast water, visibly coming out to get them! It […]
