Guiding Philosophy

Guided fly fishing trips are for everyone! Whether you’re an experienced angler or have never thrown a fly, a guided trip is an experience rich with adventure. The chance to catch a wild trout, wander the woodland trails, and regain your sanity all in the same day is worth its weight in gold. Each day on the water is shaped by Mother Nature and tests ones ability to solve the code of the wily trout. At Gray Goat our guides are connected to their work by more than just a hook and line. Our guides are a group of avid outdoor professionals who understand the rhythms of the earth. They are dedicated to giving you a day you won’t forget. New access spots, new techniques, or just responding more intuitively to the stimuli surrounding the stream and its inhabitants is just a fraction of what you can gain from one of our guided trips. No one knows it all and in this pastime old dogs can learn new tricks.

The Guided Experience

All guide days are exclusive to the trout waters of Pierce County Wisconsin. Each day is custom fit to fulfill your needs, everything from the food you will eat to the water you will fish will be arranged in advance. Full days include: lunch, beverages and the flies used for the day. Half (1/2) days include: beverages, snacks, and flies.

Rivers of Pierce County Wisconsin

The Kinnickinnic and Rush rivers are two of the largest and most prolific spring creeks in Western Wisconsin. Located in the northern end of the “Driftless Area”, these streams are rich with both history and trout. Each river has its own unique character and it is suggested you try to spend a day on each.

A full line of these products are available for rental year round. Gray Goat provides high quality breathable waders and premium rod, line and reel combinations at weekend and weekly rates.
