CDC Biot Body Midge/Caddis Emerger-(Red)

Size 16

The PMD has been a good emerger pattern for the light colored mayflies of summer. Perfect for the PMD’s and sulfurs of this size.

Perfect for those hard to fool soft water fish. This is a Rene’ Harrop pattern.

Size 16

This Harrop pattern is tied on a curved shank 3x long hook so it is a bit bigger than a standard length #16. The brown olive color is a great match for many mayfly nymphs in transition.

Size 22

This pattern is a winner for those who have great eyesight or love Zen dry fly fishing. We all know trout can eat midges like popcorn and this is a great pattern for one of their staple foods. This pattern is also one of Harrop’s best in the film midge patterns.

Size 16

Born out of the love of red, this emerger pattern is kind of a hybrid. Where trout feed in the film, this pattern is your wild card. On days where it seems there is no solving the riddle, try this guy. Time and time again something that looks good to eat and has a bit of red to it can be the ticket.

Size 20

This fly is ingeniously tied with a quick sight, Hi-Vis, hot orange post that makes spotting it on the water a piece of cake for most anglers. The post is only visible from above and makes for a great indicator fly as well in a two fly combo.

Size 22

The biot body on this pattern is wrapped smooth, giving this pattern a nice sheen and the subtle look of segmentation.  The pure CDC wing shows great profile on the water as well as floats the fly well.  I love CDC.

Size 20

This is an excellent dun pattern and is the perfect lead fly in a two fly combo or can be fished alone. The advantage of this fly is the thorax style of tie. The v-cut hackle enables the fly to ride high and stable on the waters surface while the CDC wing provides great visibility. This fly also fishes great as a single when the duns are on the water or the trout are competing for food.

This classic Trico Comparadun, tied with bleached costal deer hair, is a favorite lead fly dun imitation in a two fly trico rig.  The bleached deer hair wing floats well and keeps the fly’s body in the correct position on the water.  It also allows anglers spot the fly easily.

Size 24

This poly-wing female trico spinner is perfect for days where trout are keying on small female trico spinners.  This simple but effective pattern is always in my trico box.

Size 24

This male spinner has UV fibers added to the wing to add a bit glimmer to the wing.  Sometimes, I believe this added twist helps trout pick this spinner over the 500 other bugs per square foot that the fly is floating through.  Also works well slightly sunk just below the water’s surface.  The biot body is wrapped reverse style to accentuate the segmentation in the body of this mayfly.

Size 16

Another René Harrop design that works great for use on the sulfurs and PMD’s in the Midwest as well as anywhere in the world that these light yellow mayflies exist.

Sizes 20, 22

CDC is one of the best natural materials for imitating life in a fly. This René Harrop design is a must have and is one of the staple flies in my confidence box. BWO’s are present throughout the year in these sizes and this fly can be fished alone in the surface film or drowned as a nymph.

Size 22

A similar pattern to the BWO transitional dun without the Xelon tail and a slightly different body color. For some reason this one works when the other one won’t.

Size 16

This pattern is for the early larger blue wings that come off in April and May. This larger BWO also works well as an all around low riding mayfly pattern.

Size 16

A nice match for the hatch of these mayflies in the Southeast and a great all around mayfly nymph imitation.
